Don’t Wait Another Year: Why You MUST Start Growing Food in 2026!

Shalom, fam?  In this new year, I want to give you some inspiration to start growing your own food because the past few years should have been a wake-up call for most of us. We’ve seen just how dependent we are; inflation comes, SNAP benefits are cut, and the government is just doing whatever the hell they want to do.

Be Proactive, Not Reactive

It is important not just turn a blind eye to what’s happening but to be proactive. I always say this: proper preparation prevents poor performance. If you choose to turn a blind eye, sooner or later, you’re going to be forced to be reactive to the inflation that’s coming and the chemicals and pesticides they spray on the food.

Instead of being forced to react, how about we be proactive right now? Going into 2026, you should be motivated more than ever to say, "Hey, I’m going to just try to start growing at least something. When people show you who they are, believe them, don't continue to turn a blind eye while you see what’s brewing. Let’s play chess.

Start Where You Are

Start Growing Food in 2026

Now, I know when people think about New Year’s resolutions, they usually focus on making more money or becoming physically fit. There’s nothing wrong with that, but we have to take into consideration learning some life skills and getting back to our roots. We need to learn tools we can keep in our back pockets, living as our ancestors once lived.

You don't have to be "Farmer John" right out of the gate. I’m not saying you have to go out and till a whole plot of land; you can start where you’re at.

  • On a balcony? Start a small container garden with potatoes, herbs, tomatoes, or leafy greens.

  • In a backyard? Get a flock of five chickens for fresh eggs or start a small garden plot.

  • In the wild? Pick up a fishing pole, a bow and arrow, or buy some books and learn how to forage.

It’s not a one-size-fits-all. As long as you are on the right path, you can walk as fast or as slow as you want to walk. You can sprint, jog, or just walk as long as you are moving in the right direction.
