The Food Scam Exposed: Why We Need to Get Back to the Land

I don’t know if y’all can see this, but this bag of hot popcorn is $4.79. I can remember 10 or 15 years ago, when this probably would have been a dollar or $1.50. As a millennial, I remember when you could go to the store and get four bags of chips for a dollar, and the meat and vegetables were a good price, even on a budget. But today? They are scamming us.
Why We Need to Get Back to the Land

The Illusion of Abundance
We think because we go to the grocery stores and the shelves are stacked and the packaging is nice and flashy that we have plenty. But we are living in an illusion of abundance.
While those prices are creeping up, the ingredient lists are getting longer, and the words are getting harder and harder to pronounce. Why does popcorn need a list of fillers that long?.
This is what you call shrinkflation: you are paying more, but you are getting a lower quality product with less nutritional value and smaller servings.
We are being charged top dollar for sickness-causing properties. The bottom line is that these major corporations aren't selling nourishment; they’re selling margins. When food becomes a product instead of a resource, profits replace people.
Taking Our Power Back
This is what happens when we don’t know how to grow our own food, and we become dependent on convenience. We have lost the connection to our food over the last few decades. When you have a connection to your food, you value it. When you know the chicken that laid your eggs or you see the vegetables coming out of your own garden, you have a deeper respect for that nourishment. You can even taste the difference.
How to Start (No Matter Where You Are)
I know not everyone can go out and purchase land right now. But where there is a will, there is a way, and you shouldn't place limitations on yourself. You can start exactly where you are:
Ethically source your food: Look up local farms for dairy and eggs, or visit farmers' markets instead of big chain grocery stores.
Cook from scratch: Buy whole ingredients and learn how to cook them yourself.
Read the labels: Pick the best option that fits your budget.
You don’t have to turn around and do a full sprint; just start walking at your own pace toward a lifestyle of living healthy and not being scammed. My main goal is to inspire you to get back to the land, whether that’s a big farm or just some chickens in your backyard.
As I always say: he who has the power to feed you also has the power to starve you. It’s time to take our power back.
