Fam, Let’s Talk About Fear and Obedience

What’s up, fam? Listen, I want to talk to y’all about something that’s been heavy on my heart lately: fear. Not just the kind that makes you jump when you hear a noise outside, but the kind of fear that sneaks into your spirit and stops you from moving when God already told you to go.

See, a lot of us are asking Yah for answers, asking Him for clarity, asking Him to show us the next step. But when He does… fear comes in and we freeze. That’s not how it’s supposed to be. Fear and obedience can’t live in the same house.

What Is Fear and Obedience

Fear and Obedience

Fear Is a Thief

Fam, let’s be real. Fear will rob you blind if you let it. It’ll steal your time, your peace, and your opportunities.

You’ll sit there saying:

  • “What if I fail?”

  • “What if people laugh at me?”

  • “What if it doesn’t work?”

But let me flip it for you. What if you actually succeed? What if the thing you’ve been praying for is sitting on the other side of obedience?

The enemy knows he can’t take your calling, so he tries to paralyze you with fear. Don’t give him that power.

Obedience Over Everything

I know it’s hard. I know sometimes Yah tells you to do something that makes no sense on paper. He tells you to start the business when you don’t have money. He tells you to move when you don’t have all the details. He tells you to speak when you feel unqualified.

But here’s the thing: obedience is greater than sacrifice.

If He told you to do it, your job isn’t to figure out all the hows. Your job is to move. When you step out, He steps in. That’s how it works.

Faith in Action

Fam, faith isn’t just believing in your mind. Faith is action. Faith is doing it scared.

Think about Peter stepping out of the boat. He didn’t wait until the wind calmed down. He didn’t wait until it made sense. He stepped out because Jesus said, “Come.”

What is Yah telling you to come to? What’s the boat you’re still sitting in?

Stop Waiting on Perfect Conditions

One thing we gotta get straight: the conditions will never be perfect.

If you’re waiting for:

  • The money to stack up

  • The people to support you

  • The fear to completely disappear

…you’ll be waiting forever.

Sometimes you gotta move while it’s storming. Sometimes you gotta build while it’s shaking. Because obedience doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.

Fear Is Loud, But God Is Louder

Fam, fear will scream at you. It’ll keep you up at night. It’ll make you question if you heard God right. But here’s what I know — God’s voice might be a whisper, but His whisper carries more weight than fear’s scream.

When He says move, move. When He says build, build. When He says speak, speak.

Personal Story: Doing It Scared

Let me be real with y’all. There were times when we stepped out with no blueprint. Times when the money didn’t line up, the people weren’t clapping, and the outcome wasn’t guaranteed. But we moved anyway.

And you know what? Every single time, God showed up. Not always how we expected, not always when we expected, but always right on time.

Doing it scared taught us that fear only has as much power as you give it.

Community Matters, But Don’t Depend on It

I love community. I love when people come together, help each other, lift each other up. But hear me, fam: don’t make community your crutch.

Sometimes the help won’t come right away. Sometimes the people you thought would ride with you fall off. That’s okay. Because Yah plus your obedience is still enough.

When He wants to send help, He will. But don’t stall your assignment waiting on folks.

Keep Your Eyes on the Mission

At the end of the day, it all comes down to focus. Are you going to focus on fear, or are you going to focus on the mission?

Fear will have you stuck staring at the storm. Obedience will keep your eyes on the One who controls the storm.

Fam, you can’t do both. You gotta choose.

Final Word: Move Anyway

So here’s the word, fam: fear and obedience can’t co-exist. One will always cancel out the other.

If Yah told you to do it, move anyway. Move scared. Move unsure. Move broke. Move tired. But MOVE.

Because when you do, you’ll see that obedience unlocks doors fear was trying to keep you from.
